 "My favorite pot" 2009-12-30
By Teresa Preston (Rochester, NY)
I've had this for about 4 years now, and it's my all-time favorite pot. I make everything in it - soup, stew, chili, sauce, even candy. Heats evenly and holds heat well, the lid fits nicely and the handles stay relatively cool on the cook top. I've never used it in the oven but it's supposed to be rated to 500 degrees. I really don't know what I'd do without it.

"Newer "Made in China" Calphalon" 2009-12-29
By J. Breithaupt (Shreveport, LA USA)
This pot = thin junk. Older Calphalon made in USA = thick, heavy, high-quality. Very sad to see such a nosedive in quality.

"Love my Calphalon pans, but this is junk." 2009-12-28
By T. Simmons (Daly City, CA United States)
I've been using a few Calphalon hard-anodized pans in my kitchen for almost a decade. They are sturdy, well constructed, cook great, clean easy and are second only to my much more expensive All-Clad copper core pans. This stock pot however is not even in the same league. Not even close. If it didn't say Calphalon on the lid, I'd think they sent me some cheap(er) knock-off.

The anodized aluminum is not only very thin, but it doesn't look or feel *anything* like the Calphalon pans that I have. This appears to have been given a very quick anodizing treatment so that you can easily scratch the surface and expose untreated aluminum. That cannot happen with my pans. I can scrape the heck out of them with steel utensils and nothing happens other than a light mark that I can clean off. As if that weren't bad enough, the first time I put this to use, the rivets on one of the handles leaked. I thought maybe after I get it up to temp the metal would expand enough to stop the leaking. I thought wrong. It continued to leak during the entire cooking process making this pot pretty much worthless.

This product seems inexpensive, but it's actually way too much for this very low quality piece. I will definitely think twice before buying another Calphalon product.

Great product, but from where do you ship? It took almost 3 weeks for me to get it.

"You get what you paid for" 2009-12-05

I have seen many comments complaining that the quality is not the same as the ones used to be made in the US. Calphalon still makes pots made in the US. It's not the Commercial line, but the Calphalon One Infused Anodized line. I have the pasta pot and I compare it to the Commercial. The made in the US pot had much better handles, that looks like they are finished and polished. The side of the pot is also a lot smoother, darker and thicker. The Commercial has strong handles, but are a little unfinished and have some jagged edges. The side of the pot is not smooth, it has fine lines, as if it was machined. The color is a lot lighter. Overall the US made is heavier and much better made.

There is a huge price difference with the made in the US and the one made in China. This 12Qt stock pot cost me $66.99 plus tax. A Calphalon One Infused Anodized 8Qt stock pot would cost me $225.00 plus tax. Both through Amazon. I guess if I wanted a pot that can be passed onto the next generation, I would get the made in the US. If they ever stop producing pots made in the US, I would definitely buy them before they are all gone. If I ever need another pot, I would get the made in the US version.

A little off tangent. I would definitely purchase this Stockpot again.
