I bought this for the size - six quarts - and the modest price. This is lighter weight than I was expecting and it seems to take overly long to bring water to a boil. I suspect the stainless aspect of it won't hold up well in the long haul. The first time I used it I brought water to a boil and then threw in a tablespoon of salt -- and immediately little black spots developed on the bottom of the pan. The black disappeared after washing the pan but little light color spots are still visible even after a good polishing with Bar Keepers Friend. I have a $260 dollar 8 quart All-Clad pot that I absolutely adore and this pot does not hold up well to that one in comparison. On the other hand, this puppy was just a fraction of the price of the All-Clad-- so I'd call it serviceable for the price.

The Good: I love the broad bottom of the 6 quart pot which makes it easy to sauté a lot of vegetables or brown a large batch of meat.



The Bad: The 3 quart pan feels much heavier than it is, because the handle does not help distribute the weight of the pan. The lip of both pans seems almost sharp, I would prefer the edges to be rounded smooth. Still all of the good things about these pans would outweigh the bad, if not for one problem.



The Ugly: These pans stain and are impossible to clean. The 6 quart pot has spots all over the bottom and boiling liquid in the pan leaves a thick ring around the inside at the water level. I noticed this after only one use, and it continues to happen after every use. At first I thought it was just our hard water leaving a mineral film on the pans after boiling, and maybe that is part of it, but then the 3 quart pan stained on the bottom from sautéing onions in butter. I have soaked and scrubbed these pans again and again, with little success. I suspect that some Bar Keeper's Friend would do the trick, but I do not think that I should have to buy a separate cleaning product specifically for these pans when none of my other stainless steel pans have ever given me any trouble.

We have a set of Cuisinart Chef's Classic pots and pans, but we wanted an extra pot in which to cook corn. This 6-quart sauce pot does the job and it does it well. It's the perfect size and the quality and style matches our set.

I have been looking for a stainless steel pot withOUT a glass lid, for a reasonable price, for a while now. I thought I had found all these things with this pot. Great name brand, great price ($40 on sale), and the size I was looking for. I was very excited when I received it, this pot is beautiful. Sadly, the first time it was used (to boil potatoes in salted water) it was ruined. When the pot was emptied there were black pits all over the bottom of the inside of the pot. I could scrub and clean off the black, but the pits in the stainless steel remained. I was very disappointed. I have hand me down stainless steel that is more than 40 years old that looked better than this brand new one time used pot. I returned it for a refund and my search continues.

I already have Calphalon Unison saute, sauce and frying pans. I needed a pan to cook pasta and rice for myself and was unwilling to use my saucepan for such a task. Overall I'm not sure this pan is worthwhile, if you can afford it I'd definitely recommend spending more for a heavier gauge pan.
