 "Great little knife!" 2010-03-08
By Traveling Wife
I travel quite a bit, and I don't want to take my expensive knives with me. Enter little Cuisinart santoku! I love it, because it's small, yet I can use it to chop vegetables without mashing my knuckles on the cutting board. We don't even need a paring knife, because the santoku can handle little jobs too. I haven't had any trouble with rusting, except a few times when it got left in standing water--and the rust sharpened right off.

For the price, what's not to like?

Review Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 1-1/2-Quart Saucepan with Cover

Buy Cheap Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 1-1/2-Quart Saucepan with Cover From Here Now!

Endorsed by none other than the legendary French chef Paul Bocuse (the only restaurateur in the world to be awarded the prestigious Michelin 3 Stars for over 36 consecutive years), Cuisinart's Chef's Classic stainless cookware is high quality, yet affordable. Unlike many lines of cookware, this can go in the dishwasher for clean up, yet the aluminum core within the base provides even and efficient heating. Stainless steel not only looks great, it is also non-reactive with food, an important consideration for any cook. This small saucepan is ideal for sauces, boiling a couple of eggs, cooking vegetables and any number of other tasks.

 "4 qt saucepan" 2010-08-02
By Mike Smith (Mars)
Although very well built of quality materials, the shape of the handle left a lot to be desired. It was so narrow that it felt as if I had little "control" of the pan once in my hand.

And I found that I prefer my saucepan having a 4 1/2 qt capacity instead of just 4 qts.

"Perfect size pan and sturdy" 2010-07-18

Love this pan. Bought this pan a few years ago and we use it for everything. It still looks new after years of use. Perfect size to cook a small meal. I purchased another one recently because one was not enough.

 "beautiful" 2010-05-13
By Raymond A. Evans (USA)
Beautiful and light weight. My only surprise was the size. It's 1.5 quarts right to the top. 'My' other smaller pans seem to have an extra half quart I've gotten use to having for boiling room. This line seems to be fantastic at conducting heat. I've got a large dutch oven from the same line. I scorched it pretty good the first time I used it. With steel wool and a lot of elbow grease it didn't look too bad. Two or three uses and washings later it looked brand new! So I now use lower cooking temps and have NO problems.

Consider the sizing and cooking tempertures and you can't go wrong.

 "Excelllent replacement" 2010-04-17
By Kenith E. Meissner (Pennsylvania)
This saucepan is a good buy. The weight is very good and the heat seems to be evenly distributed. I also purchased the matching 8" fry pan and I enjoy using both of them. The price of the Cuisinart is about mid-level and a good value for the product.

For some reason, this particular size pot in the set has a tendancy to flake the stainless on the bottom...Amazon replaced with not problem, but after 3 uses, wife noticed it is starting to do the same thing..keep an eye out for this ..otherwise it is a very convenient and mostly used size.....

 "secret angle" 2010-06-16
By A. Brick (San Francisco, CA, United States)
the pot end of the hooks are angled about 45 degrees LEFTWARDS. as another reviewer noted, this isn't visible in the photos or clear in the description (shame on you, database). if your kitchen needs pots to hang the other direction, maybe you can buy this product in a parallel universe.

 "Cuisinart & Amazon, the "A" team!" 2010-04-16
By S. P. Marceau (Kerrville, TX USA)
Sturdy and extra long...What else could one want? The hooks are slightly darker than they appear in the photo and darker than my others. But when you've got a HUGE pot rack laden with every conceivable type of pot, the shade of metal isn't a biggie. These are great! So reasonably priced, they are truly a bargain! If you have a steel pot rack, you'll love these. I do!

Customer Buzz
"Universal does not = Standard" 2010-04-13
By R. Collicott (NC, USA)
To not just focus on the problem... these hooks are of a good quality and will hang a wide assortment of items. The problem is that EVERY OTHER pot rank hook that is "angled" or "offset" mentions that they are "angled" or "offset" somewhere in either their name or description. THESE DO NOT and the presumption is that they are "straight" or "flat". WRONG! They are as angled as any I've seen. Can I make them work? Probably. Am I happy about it? no! Looking back at the photos I can just barely make out that they have this angle. So I can't cry fowl or "you sent me the wrong product". But what I will do is treat every description of a product on Amazon as suspect from this point forward.

"Does not work well with Whitmor Baker's Rack" 2010-01-30
By Mommy (Seattle, WA)
I purchased these as a recomendation as something that was purchased with the Whitmor Bakers rack that I had purchased a few days before, after realizing I would need more hooks. These do not look nice with it and do not fit in the same place that you put the other hooks. Although they are usable it does not work well. They are really too thick to put utensils on unless they have a large hole in them. I am going to go to a hardware store and take my S hooks I got with the bakers rack and try to find some that work better. These do seem like they are a very sturdy piece of equiptment that I would totally trust to hang a iron skillet that my children may play around. I would just suggest getting them to go with other Cuisinart stuff. The packaging says that they work with all Cuisinart Racks. Who knows I may look into buying a pot rack just so I can use the hooks. ;-)

"Good value for the money." 2010-07-08

 "Cuisinart Chef's Classic 12-Quart" 2010-05-16
By Peter H. Bolte (Itasca, IL)
I did quite a bit of research on 12 Qt. stainless steel stockpots. Everything from Cuisnart to All Clad which can run up to $400 for the same dimensions. I also had information from Cook's Illustrated recommending the Cuisnart in quality and price.

I have large (tall) crockpots for soups, stews, or spaghetti sauce including an All Clad but I wanted something smaller and definitely wider to allow for easier degreasing as it's a bit difficult with the tall ones because they're narrower not allowing an easy degrease.

Also, not everybody has 12 quart pots. 6, 8, 10, or larger. But 12 was a bit difficult to find. So I checked around price-wise and found Amazon to be the cheapest for the same, new, stockpot and purchased it.

So far, I haven't been disappointed. Made some chicken/noodle soup and there was absolutely no burning or noodles sticking to the bottom. It also fits in my kitchen cupboards. So far, so good. Big test will be meat marinara. We'll see. I would definitely recommend that the heat be turned down over what you might be used to.

Handles are well placed, easy to grasp, and pour contents (like straining unwanted vegetables). Use potholders when it holds hot contents.

Easy to clean but don't use abrasives. Hot, soapy water and one of those scraping pads safe for teflon to maintain shine without "scars". IF anything sticks to the bottom, empty, add a bunch of water, and heat on low for 8 hours or so. If the problem persists, continue to heat in hot water but so far, everything's cool with this one. Just remember to turn the cooking heat down as compared to what you might have. After that, adjust to your preferences.

For the price and what I was looking for, this one's good.

"Nice looking but stains -- as others have noted" 2010-05-09
By anonymous (California)
Beautiful out of the box and good heat distribution, but we've had the problem other reviewers noted: stains (possibly rust) on the inside, starting after the first use. And in general pot seems difficult to clean versus similar pots we've use. It has been cared for gently. Amazon's return policy is good but Cuisinart must know of the rust problem and puts the onus on the trusting customer. Consider Ross or Marshalls for low-key low-price cookware purchases.

 "souper star!" 2010-04-14
By A. Sanders (Baltimore, Maryland)
Perfect size for a big batch of soup or a pound of pasta. Heats evenly, handles stay relatively cool, the top fits well. I agonized over which size to get, and the 8 quart is perfect for a family of four. I'm glad I got it and use it frequently.

"Very nice but takes forever to heat up" 2010-04-13

Only complaint is it takes quite a long time to heat up water with this pot. We have an 8 quart Cephalon which heats much quicker. But for the price its a good pot.

"This pot is JUNK. Do not buy." 2010-06-25
By Tom Tom (Arizona USA)
This is the thinnest stainless steel pot I've ever encountered. 100% junk. The handles are very flimsy and are made from thin sheets bent into a round tube, flattened, riveted on, then bent over to form a handle. So flimsy that in fact the handle broke off the first time I used it while carrying 3 gallons of water from the inside sink to my outside bbq burner. Also, as others have noted, the sticker is almost impossible to remove without a harsh solvent to remove the gunk. If I were you I'd buy an encapsulated bottom stainless pot that is made from thicker metal, has solid handles and is actually usable.

Customer Buzz
 "good for homebrewing" 2010-06-21
By JR Nielsen
With all the complaints about the pot being thin, I thought this thing would be made out of paper. It's really not bad, and works great for homebrew. As some other reviewers pointed out though, mine came pretty dirty, but you need to soak it to get the label off anyway, so not a big deal. For the price, it's hard to go wrong on this one.

Customer Buzz
"Perfect for brewing, steaming, or boiling." 2010-05-27
By Martoune (Detroit, Michigan)
Very light weight with a thin bottom. I wouldn't recommend using this for stews or soups, but for boiling noodles/brewing/steaming its perfect. The price is perfect for what this pot is capable of. Those who think they will save money and use this pot the same way they would use a more expensive thick bottom pot will be very disappointed.

 "Biggest pot ever" 2010-05-06
By J. L. Welch (Clarksville, TN USA)
This pot came quickly and is SO much bigger than I expected. I use it for soapmaking. It is very light and easy to move around. The only thing that makes it hard to handle is its size, but for cooking large quantities of food I'm sure this would be a great pot. Another thing I don't really like is the brand sticker on the pot is hard to get off; you have to soak the pot to get the sticker off. Stainless steel is stainless steel, so might as well get it for a lower price.

 "Works well" 2010-07-28
By TaylorMade
This pot works well for me. It's a good deal for the price. Wish it had a bit of a thicker bottom to help distribute the heat more evenly across the bottom of the pot. Would probably work better with a gas stove than my electric. My biggest complaint is having to try and peel the sticker off of the front that the manufacturer sticks on. It doesn't come off easily and needs goo gone for complete removal.

"The Pot is a Lie" 2010-07-18
By Kraig
As a homebrew pot, this would have been sufficient. It's thin, cheaply made but serves it's purpose. My issue with the product is it's a lie. It hold four gallons. 20 quarts is five gallons.

They did not ship me the wrong pot, it's simply not 20 qts but 16. I'm also not the only person to have that experience with this pot. Take my advice, and buy a different pot.

"I should have read the reviews before I bought this" 2010-01-01
By RD Burton
The other reviews are correct. This is a shoddy product. It's of inferior quality. And it's pictured with a lid but doesn't actually have one. I realize now that if it came with a lid it would be titled "stock pot with lid", but I didn't before. So they should get a picture of one without a lid. And if you actually want a good stock pot, buy something else.

Do not buy if you want a 20 Qt pot, this one is only 16 Qt. I had to return to Amazon twice. It is clear to me that this vendor is selling this pot as 20 Qt when it is not. Amazon said they would investigate, yet this item is still listed on their site. Why would Amazon let this vendor lie to their customers?

 "Great pot!" 2010-07-14
By Alan L. Jensen (Glendale, CA USA)
The bottom is thick and heavy, and spreads heat very well; I even cooked cornmeal mush without burning. The sides are much thinner, which makes it light, but they are thick enough to not dent easily. The lid holds in steam very well; if you plug the vent, steam will make the lid rattle! If I ever need another pot of this size, I'll get another of these.

 "Huge solid and durable!" 2010-06-24
By N. Smith
This thing is huge! I bought it because I was tired of making soup in my 8 quart and not having enough room. This thing is effectively 2.5 times the space, HUGE!!! It is nice and thick on the bottom and the handles seem like they will hold up well. The glass lid was a concern but it is nice and thick. It can be a pain to wash but it is nice to have the extra space and if you ever need to host a large party or open a soup kitchen you could do either very easily with this huge pot!

"The House Cook Loves the Pot" 2010-05-21
By Mr. Allnut (United States)
I bought this for my wife. I know what your thinking, this is one step above getting her a vacuum lol! But not for my wife, she LOVES to cook and loves kitchen ware. She has been looking for a good oversized stock pot for years. She did not want to spend hundreds of dollars, which they easily get for these pots. This pot, for the quality, is a steal.

I am no expert, but the wife says this pot is well built. It doesn't flex when its full and the bottom of the pot is thick with a design that distributes heat and doesn't burn everything, a big complaint of her's about other pots. I guess that is something a cook would understand!

So there you have it, if you already bought your sweetie that vacuum for the last holiday, how about a pot? They will love you for it, I promise!

 "Great Stock Pot" 2010-02-10
By Michele Cannata (Mt. Shasta)
I love this stock pot. It fits on my stove (front burners). It's perfect for making alot of stock at one time. I simmer my stock for 24 to 72 hours and this pot really works. I love the glass lid with a steam release hole. This pot has a nice heavy bottom that can stand up to 72 hours or more of slow simmering with no burning. I would like to have known the base diameter before purchasing (I guessed it would fit and I'm glad that I guessed correctly.) With any stockpot the amount that it holds is always listed as though it were filled to the top. Of course this isn't practical. I can get a good 16 to 18 quarts out of this pot without it boiling over or getting too close to the top for my personal comfort. I hope you enjoy this stockpot as much as I'm enjoying it.
